technology.<\/p>\n<p>The project specifically targets the complexity of firefighting operations in areas close to populated zones. Specifically, Aeromedia deployed and operated a TETRA repeater or gateway, a communication system used in forest fires. They also researched and determined remote reprogramming options (changing channels and functions) without requiring the UAV to land (captive system).<br \/>\nSubstantially improving the monitoring and control capabilities of responding personnel through the use of beacons and their integration into UAV management software. Within this objective, Aeromedia investigated LORA beacon integration models, prioritizing durability and autonomy. They also analyzed the range capabilities of these beacons at a laboratory scale.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another objective of Aeromedia, related to the previous one, was to investigate a computing platform that integrates information from LORA beacons to transmit personnel position data to the firefighting command center and the UAVs operating at the fire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Funding<\/strong><br \/>\nEXTINCIA is funded by the Centre for the Development of Technology and Innovation (CDTI), within the framework of the 2024 call for proposals of the Science and Innovation Missions Program, under the Transfer and Collaboration Program of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2024\u20132027, and within the context of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.<br \/>\nFunded by CDTI. This results in fewer missions of this type compared to the former, slowing the beneficial use of unmanned vehicles for high-value-added missions with greater operational complexity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this challenging context, the U-SCUAR consortium was created with the objective of undertaking advanced research in the field of unmanned systems, in order to effectively comply with the requirements of European regulations on UAS.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The goal of this consortium is to equip the platform with technologies focused on operations under the highest standards of efficiency and safety, enabling the safe use of unmanned vehicles in advanced operations such as firefighting, maritime search and rescue, coastal surveillance, and more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project aims to define and develop a complete system capable of operating in medium-risk SAIL III and IV operational scenarios, following the SORA methodology and fully complying with European UAS regulations. The goal is to equip the platform with technologies focused on operations under the highest standards of efficiency and safety.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The U-SCUAR project has been recognized for its strong strategic, technological, and innovative nature, which is why it has become part of the Aeronautical Technology Program (PTA) of the Ministry of Science and Innovation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This program is part of the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) in the Aerospace sector, approved by the Interministerial Commission in March 2022, which aims to mobilize approximately \u20ac4.533 billion between 2021 and 2025 to strengthen the capabilities of the aeronautical industry. It is also worth noting the significant involvement of research organizations such as AICIA, UPM, and CATEC. This consortium of Spanish firms demonstrates the technological strength of the Spanish industry in unmanned aerial vehicles and its capacity to collaborate and generate synergies that enable it to undertake top-tier projects.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This project has been funded by the CDTI, co-financed with European funds from the Recovery and Resilience Facility, and supported by the Ministry of Science and Innovation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The expansion of the use of specialized UAS in missions of great benefit to society will become a reality thanks to The project proposes the development of a series of actions to boost the Spanish agricultural sector through the \u201c21st Century Agriculture\u201d Mission. The project has a budget of 6 million euros and will be financed by the CDTI with European Next Generation funds.<\/p>\n<p>The project aims to investigate sustainable and energy-efficient technological solutions that will enable the development of efficient water resource management and treatment strategies for the agricultural sector. This will help guarantee the quality and quantity of water resources, as well as adapt and prepare the Spanish agricultural sector to combat the progressive scarcity of conventional water resources Consequently, modern agriculture that is efficient in its use of water and energy resources is essential to meet the growing food demands. The solution is not simple, as the conventional water resources available to each person or activity are becoming increasingly scarce, primarily due to the progressive increase in population and the needs associated with the development of countries. Furthermore, this situation is already being exacerbated by the effects of global climate change and the deterioration of water quality due to the presence of new pollutants such as emerging contaminants of concern, microplastics, superbugs, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt measures that ensure the availability of water in sufficient quantity and quality for the development of the modern and efficient agriculture needed in the immediate future.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><\/div><!--close column table wrapper. Its duration is 3 years and ends in September 2020<br \/>\nIn the TOPACIO project, AEROMEDIA UAV S.L participates together with three other companies (Extraco, SAN2 and Conexiona) and we also have the collaboration of two technology centers, such as the University of Vigo and the Forest Research Center of Louriz\u00e1n<br \/>\nWith the TOPACIO project, the aim is to develop a GIS application that allows optimizing forest fuel management in the vicinity of communication routes.<br \/>\nThe companies and organizations responsible for the maintenance of linear infrastructures (roads, railways, power lines, etc.), have the obligation to carry out clearing, felling and pruning in order to limit the probability of starting, spreading or transmitting a forest fire .<br \/>\nThe TOPACIO project aims to integrate many sources of information into the GIS platform, such as meteorological sources, those on the state of vegetation and those provided by anyone through a mobile application.<br \/>\nThe aspect in which AEROMEDIA participates together with the University of Vigo, is to monitor the state of the vegetation on a large scale. For this we are conducting LIDAR flights with drones in the environment of different communication channels and at different times of the year.<br \/>\nWith this LIDAR data, algorithms are being developed that automate the identification of forest fuel models, vegetation continuity, heights, and other variables. These data, together with other meteorological, satellite, geographical and historical types, allow optimizing forest fuel management in the aforementioned environments.<br \/>\nThe main advantage that LIDAR information provides for the forest fuel inventory is its immediacy and the ability to refer to work scales that are impossible to access with satellite information or other cartographic sources.<br \/>\nAt this point in the project, as regards AEROMEDIA, a LIDAR data acquisition campaign has already been carried out in winter and summer in the pilot scenarios and algorithms for Galicia 2014-2020 operational program (OT 1. \u201cPromote technological development, innovation and quality research \u201d).<br \/>\nSTART DATE: 06\/01\/2018. END DATE: 09\/29\/2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Throughout this year 2019, progress has been made in the design and development proposed in the project, specifically, work has been done on the design of the mathematical models necessary for the calculation of the key variables involved in forest management: inventory, planning and control. These models will be housed in the web GIS tool that has been worked on during this period and which includes the necessary functionalities to carry out forest management remotely. This tool is currently under development.<br \/>\nTo improve field operations, the project addresses the development of a VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) prototype. This type of aircraft provides the take-off and landing characteristics of a helicopter and the flight capacity of an airplane, ideal for forest conditions, where having a take-off runway for operation is complicated and where the autonomy and range of a multicopter slows down and makes data collection more expensive. During this period, the aircraft platform has already been defined and work is being done on the FCS (flight control system).<br \/>\nRegarding field tasks, 235.2 hectares of forest have been sampled on foot and in UAV. Statistical sampling methodologies with circular plots and measurement using conventional tools have been used for sampling on foot, and for flights, a commercial multicopter equipped with a LIDAR sensor and photographic camera.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">12\/03\/2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Aeromedia continues to advance in the XESTAL project (SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT THROUGH REMOTE REMOTE SENSING).<br \/>\nWe have very advanced the VTOL system, with which the LIDAR, RGB and MULTIESPECTRAL data of the forests object of management will be captured<br \/>\nA VTOL is a fixed-wing drone, capable of vertical take-off and landing.
